HUSSLUP (pronounced "hustle up") was a professional networking and job search platform designed specifically for creative professionals in the media and entertainment industry. Founded in 2021 by H Schuster, a seasoned TV executive and producer with over 20 years of experience working on shows like MasterChef and The Biggest Loser, HUSSLUP aimed to transform how Hollywood hires by creating a central hub for talent discovery. The platform featured AI-driven staffing tools that enabled companies to search and hire talent for film and TV projects. Key features included group creation, encrypted creative sample sharing, in-app messaging, annotated contact lists for each project, and a unique "Serendipity Mode" that randomly surfaced member and company profiles to help users discover connections they might not naturally encounter. HUSSLUP partnered with major production companies and studios including Universal Studio Group, Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, Will Smith-founded Westbrook, the Russo Brothers AGBO, Tyra Banks Bankable Productions, Don Cheadles This Radicle Act, and Women in Film. The platform grew to over 15,000 members and more than 50 industry partners before announcing an indefinite hiatus in September 2024 due to challenging entertainment market conditions following the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The companys mission was to democratize and diversify access to the entertainment industry by connecting creatives worldwide to each other and to the companies that need them. Approximately 65% of its membership self-identified as diverse in gender, race, or LGBTQ+ categories.
