This week on the Human Cloud Podcast Does The Future Of Talent Need Staffing Firms? One Founder Weighs In Quentin Cloarec spent his career inside staffing. His verdict on the one thing staffing has sold for forty years: the match is now worthless. A model reads a job description and a CV in under a second. A company still paying humans to read resumes is just paying its competitive delay.
From Kuala Lumpur, Cloarec built Trees Engineering into a talent platform placing specialized engineers on multi-billion-dollar energy, renewable, and data-center projects. He has been AI-native since 2021, back when his own staff asked him what AI was, and he is now tearing that company down and rebuilding it on an agent that pre-qualifies candidates over WhatsApp and sources from Trees' own live database. You read that right...he is the incumbent volunteering to give up his own margin, which is the one move the innovator's dilemma says he should never make. Why is he so sure? Here is his logic... A role gets 100 applications. An AI recruiter interviews every one of them for roughly 10 cents each. Point that agent at a database of 10,000 CVs and a month later it reports back: I spoke with 8,000 people, 1,255 are available right now. That is not a smarter resume pile. It is live intelligence on who is genuinely free this week. For solutions, the lesson is where the value moved. When the match is free, the money is in the managed service, the vetting, and the relationship.
